A. Interviewing

Read the interview and try to find the appropriate places for the statements given below. There are two extra statements.

Mr. Smith: Good morning Mr. Dicatto. Can you please tell me about yourself?

B. Facts and Generalizations

Read the facts and the generalizations listed below, decide which sen­tences go together, and finally, link them.

Facts

About one quarter of the EFL students questioned stated that they would like to take up a contrastive grammar course.
By far the largest number of the instructors sur­veyed responded positively to the idea of working their 21 class hours in three days.
Over half of the people in the experiment said they preferred having an office and a permanent desk to go to every day.
5 per cent of respondents wanted a new supervisor to be assigned from a different department.
75 per cent of the YTU students responded that they preferred to have their classes on Beşiktaş campus.

Generalizations

Almost all of the instructors prefer having more class hours in one day to coming to school a fourth day.
Among employees, being supervised by an objective outsider is not that preferred.
Davutpaşa campus is not so popular among YTU students.
The idea of working flextime did not prove to be a fully satisfactory one.
The idea that dealing with the foreign language along with the mother tongue is appealing.

ÖNEMLİ!!

Merhaba Aradaşlar,

Geçen hafta hasta olduğum için derse gelemedim. Bu hafta da 23Nisan dolayısıyla ders işleyemeyeceğiz. 28Nisan haftasında da bildiğiniz gibi sunumlar başlıyor. Önceki derste anlattığım gibi yazdığınız 2-3 sayfalık raporun sunumunu yapacaksınız. Rapor istediğiniz bir şirket,ürün ya da kişiyle ilgili olacak. Raporu yazarken kitabı bir daha gözden geçirin.Uzun sunumla ilgili bilgi ise sitede yazıyor.

28Nisan haftasında raporlarınızı bana teslim edeceksiniz ve uzun sunumları yapacaksınız.

Bu ders için bir kısa sunum, bir uzun sunum ve bir rapor değerlendirme kriteri hazırlanmıştır. Bu kriterler; İş İngilizcesi dersi konu içerikleri ve önceki yılın kriteri, Temel İngilizce Bölümü sunum kriterleri, IAESTE konuşma sınavı kriteri, Toplumda Konuşma dersi sunum kriteri, önceki yıllarda kullandığımız yazma dersimizin kriterleri ve ODTU’nün sunum kriteri incelenip harmanlanmış, bizim ihtiyaç ve isteklerimize göre uyarlanarak hazırlanmıştır.


UZUN SUNUM

§ Uzun sunumlar her öğrenci için 7-8 dakika sürecektir.

§ Uzun sunumlarda öğrenciler bir şirket, bir ürün ya da bir kurum (vakıf vs.) tanıtacaklardır.

§ Öğrencilerin uzun sunum değerlendirmesi, sunum esnasında (her öğrenci için ayrı ayrı hazırlanmış olan) uzun sunum kriteri belgesindeki tabloya işlenecek ve öğrencinin adı soyadı kriter belgesi üzerine yazılacaktır. Değerlendirme notlarınızı kriter belgesine işlerken, isterseniz daha pratik olması adına ilgili kutucuğa bir (√) ya da (X) işareti koyup, daha sonra bunların bulunduğu kutucuğa denk gelen puanları toplayabilirsiniz.

§ Öğrenciler bir tanesini öğretim görevlisine teslim etmek, diğerini de sunumu esnasında kendisi kullanmak üzere iki kopya rapor hazırlayacaklardır. Dersin öğretmeni de teslim aldığı raporu gene o öğrenci için kullandığı kriter belgesine iliştirerek saklayacaktır.

§ Her öğrenci için ayrı olarak tutulan kriter belgeleri ve raporlar dönem sonunda o sınıfın arşivlenmek üzere hazırlanan zarfına konacaktır.

§ Sınıf mevcudunuz kadar uzun sunum kriter belgelerinizi sunumlardan bir hafta önce Test Ofisden alabilirsiniz.

§ Öğrencilerinizi uzun sunumlardan önce kriter hakkında bilgilendiriniz. Ayrıca, öğrencilerimiz 17 Mart 2008 tarihinden itibaren de MDB web sayfamızdan da kriter belgesinin bir kopyasını edinebilirler.

§ Öğrencilere aldıkları not o anda ilan edilmeyecek, öğrenciler aldıkları notu daha sonra dönemiçi notları ilan edildiğinde Internet’ten öğreneceklerdir.

Yukarda da bahsettiğimiz gibi, üç kriteri de sunumlardan bir hafta önce Test Ofis’ten sınıf mevcudunuz kadar teslim alabilirsiniz.
